Keenly interested in astronomy since studying the subject in college, David Mittelman built HUT Observatory in 2007 with goals including astrophotography, science, and education.  More recently he has built Yellow House Observatory in Dover, Massachusetts, where the main instrument is a 17-inch PlaneWave CDK telescope carried on a Paramount ME German equatorial.  In 2013, David began commissioning a 20-inch PlaneWave on the Ascension 200HR equatorial mounting at the New Mexico Skies facility near Mayhill, New Mexico.  A site survey in underway in 2013 to house a 95-cm telescope built by Boller & Chivens in 1965.
