The HUT Observatory is privately funded and is constantly looking for additional resources. The following are of particular significance:
HUT Observatory is located near Eagle, Colorado, and has been assigned observatory code H16 by the Minor Planet Center of the International Astronomical Union. It is operated for non-profit science and education by the Michele and David Mittelman Family Foundation of Dover, Massachusetts. John W. Briggs is the Astronomer in Residence, and David Mittelman is the Executive Director. Current research projects focus on solar system studies including asteroid rotation as well as astrometry of comets and asteroids. Forthcoming projects will involve exoplanet detection and confirmation. HUT Observatory is very involved supporting science education through visiting lectures at Eagle County Schools and beyond.
